HSG test is of two types:

  • Traditional HSG
  • SonoHSG

Traditional HSG: This is the most common type of HSG test. It involves the injection of a dye into the uterus and fallopian tubes through a catheter that is placed in the cervix. The dye is visible on X-ray images, which can help identify any blockages or abnormalities in the uterus and fallopian tubes.

SonoHSG: This is a newer type of HSG test that uses saline and air instead of dye to examine the uterus and fallopian tubes. SonoHSG stands for saline-infused Sono hysterography. During the test, saline solution is injected into the uterus, and ultrasound images are used to visualize the uterus and fallopian tubes. This test is less invasive than traditional HSG and does not expose the patient to radiation from X-rays. However, it may not be as accurate as traditional HSG in detecting certain types of abnormalities, such as small polyps or fibroids.
