Both EMG and NCV are indicated in variety of situations:
- Unusual and unexplained muscle weakness
- Family history of muscular disorders
- Family history of neurological disorders
- Previous history of muscular or neurological disorders
- After fractures to check for any nerve damage
- To monitor progress of nerve conduction velocity after treatment
- To check for residual muscle weakness after proper management of various muscular disorders
- Unusual or prolonged tingling sensations in hands, arms, legs, feet, face or any other part of body.
- Muscle twitching, spasms or cramps
- Paralysis of any muscle of body
- Unusual sensations across any part of body.
