FOLLOWING are the indications of EEG:

  • Detection of non-convulsive seizures and non-convulsive status epilepticus.
  • Monitoring the effect of anti-seizure and anti-epileptic therapy.
  • Unexplained changes in mental status
  • Fluctuating and sudden changes in mental status
  • Refractory status epilepticus
  • Previous history of seizures
  • Paroxysmal autonomic spells
  • For grading severity of encephalopathy
  • Detection of cerebral palsy or ischemia
  • During or after vascular interventional procedures in radiology
  • For monitoring depths of anesthesia
  • For monitoring different phases of sleep cycle
  • To identify brain death in persons with persistent coma
  • For prognosis of brain disorders
