The combinations of BCR-ABL are different genes from different chromosomes. If they fuse then it can cause chronic myeloid leukaemia (CML). The BCR gene belongs to chromosome 22 (Philadelphia chromosome) and the ABL gene is from chromosome 9. Chronic myeloid leukaemia is a life-threatening disease related to Blood, Blood marrow Cancer condition.CML condition arises when reciprocal translocation occurs through the BCR-ABL gene. This condition is diagnosed usually in the chronic phase and treated by a haematologist and oncologist.
- BCR: Breakpoint Cluster Region
- ABL: Abelson Leukaemia
What is the reason behind developing CML?
CML stands for chronic myelogenous leukaemia, chronic granulocytic leukaemia, and chronic myelocytic leukaemia. It is the main type of leukaemia. CML plays a major role in genetics when cells make RBC, many types of WBC and platelets then the mutation will occur in Immature/Myeloid stem cells except lymphatic cells. This mutation causes the fusion of the BCR-ABL gene and abnormal stem cells to make tyrosine kinase enzymes (TKE). After that, the cell will grow and divide in the bone marrow due to TKE.
The main function of TKE is participating in cell growth and acting as an “ON & OFF” switch but in this mutation, TKE only has an ON switch. Then without an OFF switch, the result will be cells divided into large amounts of multiple abnormal cells and will settle in many parts of the body and show the symptoms of acute and chronic leukaemia. CML grows slowly as compared to acute.CML targets mostly adults and rarely children.
Risk Factors
- Gender: Mostly affects males as compared to females.
- Age: Targets a higher age group.
- Radiation Exposure: Exposure through X-ray, CT scan, etc.
Why is it Done?
BCR-ABL test was done to confirm Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia and their signs and symptoms are: Tiredness, Weight loss, Joint pain, Fever, abnormalities of CBC Reports, etc.
What are the complications of CML?
- Anaemia
- Splenomegaly
In which mentioned CML is diagnosed?
- Complete blood count: Red Blood Count, White Blood Count, Hemoglobin, Platelet
- Bone marrow biopsy
- BCR-ABL PCR: blood, bone marrow sample
- FISH (fluorescence in situ hybridization) Method-Karyotyping
Procedure:
Here we focus on the PCR Method:
Sample type: Blood and biopsy sample of bone marrow.
Reporting Time: 72 hr and the smart report will be online/offline.
Department: Molecular Diagnostic/Biology
There is no fasting and no other precaution and requirement will be required.
FREE HOME SAMPLE COLLECTION-24*7,366 DAYS ACTIVE.
Pre-diagnosis:
- After booking your test the sample collection process is done by an experienced fully skilled phlebotomist (Sample Collector) at our center and if choose a home sample collection service then the sample collector will be assigned to collect the sample at your address.
- Your sample will be stored and transported carefully with proper name and other details labeling.
- Transported samples will be forwarded to the laboratory for diagnosis.
Diagnosis:
- Our team used the molecular diagnosis process of the sample on a high-tech machine.
- Our molecular technologist takes a sample and then extracts the genetic material through an extractor.
- After isolation, the next procedure is PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction).
- PCR is a technique where DNA amplifies and makes millions of copies. It means if you are positive more infected percent (Viral Load) will show.
- As we know this condition affects genetic material (DNA).
- The PCR process is divided into 3 steps: Denaturation, Annealing, and Extension.
- After completing PCR the PCR Graph shows the detection and not detection part.
Post Diagnosis:
Reporting done by the Ganesh Diagnostics & Imaging Center team of Doctors. We also offered patient counseling by our team and the report will be verified by doctors.

Frequently Asked Questions
1. Is there any way to cure CML?
There is no proper prevention but our healthcare continuously researches it through various methods:
- Allogeneic stem cell transplantation
- Target drug therapy: tyrosine kinase inhibitors
- Chemotherapy
- Bone marrow transplantation
2. Can CML conditions become other types of cancer?
Yes, according to research we see there are many types of cancer from CML condition: Small intestine cancer, Thyroid cancer, and Stomach cancer.
3. What is the major difference between CML and CLL?
- CML: Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia targets myeloid stem cells
- CLL: Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia targets lymphoid stem cells.
4. What is the cost of BCR-ABL Pcr?
The cost of BCR-ABL Pcr is a very affordable rate and you will get 50% off.
