What is an X-ray Right Wrist AP & LAT Views Test?

Right Wrist X-Ray AP and LAT views use a small amount of radiation to help see the wrist. The wrist comprises two bones from the forearm (the radius and the ulna) and eight small bones (carpal bones). This test is suggested if your feet hurt, feel tender, or swell up.

Why is it done? 

This test helps find infections, bone cysts, tumours, and other diseases in the wrist bones. It also checks the alignment of bones after surgery or as part of a bone-age study before having surgery.

How does one prepare for the test? 

• No preparation is needed. You should wear loose-fitting clothing.

• Notify your technician if you are pregnant, as radiation may harm the baby if not disclosed to the sonography technician.
