What is an X-ray Orbit AP & LAteral Views Test?

The region of the eye sockets, nasal bridge, and cheekbones may all be seen using an X-ray of the orbit AP and Lateral Views. Eye sockets are made up of a ring of thin bones that enclose the eye.

Why is it done? 

• To inspect the area surrounding the eye sockets for any fractures in the bone.
• To rule out the possibility that there are foreign bodies present in the eye that cannot be seen with conventional ophthalmic equipment.

What is the procedure for the Orbit AP & LAteral Views Radiograph Test?

The X-Ray technician will explain. 

How does one prepare for the test? 

• Wear loose-fitting clothing. No preparation is needed.
• If you are pregnant, notify your technician, as radiation may harm the baby.
