What is an X-ray Cervical Spine AP & LAT View Test?

X-ray of the cervical spine, AP, and LAT view test is used to visualize the first seven vertebral bones (C1 - C7) of the spinal column (backbone) located in the neck region. These bones are referred to as the cervical vertebrae. 

Why is it Done? 

This examination is recommended to identify the source of the patient's neck pain, check for damage to the vertebrae in the spine, diagnose any possible spinal tumours or infections, and identify any potential disc issues.

What is the Procedure for the Cervical Spine AP & LAT View Radiograph Test?

The X-Ray technician will explain. 

How does one prepare for the test? 

• Before the X-ray, you might be asked to go to the bathroom and empty your bladder. You should wear loose-fitting clothing.

• Notify your technician if you are pregnant, as radiation may harm the baby if not disclosed to the sonography technician.

After Care: 

No care is required.
