What is an MRI Face and Neck Test?

The MRI Face and Neck show the face and neck structures. It identifies diseases of soft tissue, blood vessels, or bone. MRI of the neck can detect spinal cord damage and tumours.

Why is it done? 

• Identify the source of chronic neck discomfort, such as stiffness, weakness, or tingling.
• To identify birth abnormalities of the spine owing to an accident, injury/trauma, or osteomyelitis (bone infection) 
• To detect cancers, abnormal growths, or lumps in the cervical spine, salivary gland, face, and orbital regions.

What is the procedure for the Face and Neck MRI Screening Test?

The MRI radiologist will explain. 

How does one prepare for the test? 

• Notify your technician of metallic implants such as surgical staples, clips, or pacemakers. You may also need to remove metal objects such as jewellery or watches.
• If you are pregnant, notify your technician, as radiation may harm the baby.

After Care: 

No care is required.
